Black Shawl
Schedule: 7:30pm Wednesdays through July 9
Admission: Free
Writer, performer and storyteller Sharon French tells of her American Indian ancestry through the relationship between the elderly and wise Black Shawl and Sarah Mara Boots, a half-Navajo and half-Paiute girl raised by white settlers after her parents are killed.
"Black Shawl" is taken from her long running pageant, "Anasazi, the Ancient Ones Tales From the Land of the Navajo", which ran in Farmington, New Mexico for ten years. "Anasazi, the Ancient Ones" was written to be performed outdoors with a full cast, but Sharon French manages to tell the same story singlehandedly in "Black Shawl". A talented writer and performer, Sharon will take you through historic times by telling tales handed down by her ancestors.
Sponsored by: Mesa Verde Country and the Cortez Cultural Center.
